Plike is the creatively unique plastic-like paper from Northern Italy and resides as a member of Neenah Paper's, The Design Collection. Plike's unique matte surface and bold colors present both a tactile and visual elegance while providing a good print surface. The tactile sensation of the Plike matte surface is counterintuitive in that this super smooth surface is not slick but to the contrary it creates a slight drag as you slide your fingers across its surface. Plike is an extraordinary 100% sulphite, acid-free paper from Italy that is available in a wide range of colors and weights.

To the touch it feels smooth and "plastic like" or rubbery. It has myriad applications: offset lithography, silkscreen, thermography, blind embossing and foil stamping for starters.

Its great folding capabilities make it is an excellent paper for all packaging projects. From deluxe shopping bags, cosmetic boxes to fine art this paper has found a place and made its mark for uniqueness and versatility.

Beyond its intended uses above, Plike has wonderful art applications as well. The plastic-like surface takes pastel & charcoal quite nicely, as well as silverpoint.

Suitable Print Techniques:

Compatible with offset printing, gravure, flexo, silkscreen, foil blocking and blind embossing. Plike can be varnished, die cut and laminated. It is also compatible with xerographic non-impact printing.

Printing Recommendations:

Considering the surface’s very low absorption properties, we recommend using oxidizing inks for offset printing with the addition of a drying agent when ink density is particularly high. It is recommended to stack paper to a height of no more than 20cm, and to allow the paper to dry for at least 24 hours.

To enhance and better preserve the characteristics of this product, with its peculiar tactile effects, we recommend to take the following precautions:

– store the product in a dry area, since Plike is sensitive to humidity
– please ensure that all opened wrappers and pallets are re-wrapped securely
– prior to printing please fan the sheets to ensure separation of the sheets

Design Recommendations:

Designers should keep in mind that once ink covers the surface of Plike, it loses it’s unique feel. It recommended that you do not flood-coat Plike to avoid this happening.
